Tripod Tips & Tricks
No matter how free wheeling your shooting style is, no matter how creatively you like to dance around with your camera in your hand as you create your images, the simple fact is this: If you subject does not move then there is good reason that your camera should not have to move either during the image capture part of the process! In fact, the advantages of the camera not moving when you photograph a non-moving subject are almost too numerous and too important to even list them all. This is especially important in regards to professional photography and can be even more important if extreme post capture processing of your digital image is part of your plan when creating the image.
Let’s look at some of the key advantages using a tripod provides:
- Even if you prefer to find what you think is the perfect camera POV when handholding your camera you
can then place a tripod under your camera at that position to gain the advantages using a tripod creates. - Using a tripod correctly increases the sharpness of your images
- Using a tripod correctly allows you to realize all the resolution in your camera’s sensor and lenses
- Using a tripod allows you to create multiple images with the exact same framing
- Using a tripod allows you to create perfectly registered multiple images for multiple exposure effects
